ZWOLLE - Vervoersmaatschappij Arriva - de exploitant van de Vechtdallijnen - dringt aan op de verbetering van spoorknooppunt Herfte - waar één van de Arriva-treinen op 14 december een rood sein passeerde.

"De verbetering van Herfte is zeer belangrijk. De grens is nu bereikt en er kan geen trein meer bij, ondanks dat het Noorden nog een aantal wensen heeft voor wat betreft de dienstregeling. Zo wil Friesland twee stoptreinen tussen Leeuwarden en Zwolle en is de opening van een nieuw station in Staphorst alleen mogelijk als het knelpunt Herfte opgelost wordt", zegt algemeen directeur Anne Hettinga van Arriva. Hij zegt trouwens dat het incident met het rode sein niet louter toe te schrijven valt aan de grote drukte op het knooppunt. "Het had ook op een andere plek kunnen gebeuren".
