Heropening spoorlijn Veendam-Stadskanaal

De provincie Groningen wil door met het plan om weer een trein te laten rijden tussen Veendam en Stadskanaal.

De afgelopen jaren is onderzoek gedaan naar de haalbaarheid van de verbinding. Volgens de provincie geven die onderzoeken voldoende aanleiding om het plan verder uit te werken. Voor de spoorlijn is 46 miljoen euro beschikbaar, volgens huidige berekeningen van ProRail is er tussen de 56 en 63 miljoen euro nodig. Dat geld is er nog niet, maar volgens de provincie is het gat overbrugbaar.
