Proef spitsmijden in de trein

Er komt een groot opgezette praktijkproef Spitsmijden in de trein.

Daarbij onderzoeken drie spoorvervoerders (NS, Veolia en Syntus), de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam en het ministerie van Infrastructuur en Milieu dit najaar in welke mate zakelijke abonnementhouders bereid zijn om buiten de spits te reizen.

Spitsmijden in de trein duurt van 20 augustus 2012 tot en met 21 december 2012. Doel van de proef is door grootschalige toepassing van een tijdelijke positieve beloning te onderzoeken in welke mate treinreizigers met een zakelijk abonnement bereid zijn tot het aanpassen van hun (woon-werk)reisgedrag, zodanig dat er meer ruimte in de trein ontstaat tijdens de spitsperiode. Om tot een zo goed mogelijk beeld van de situatie in Nederland te komen wordt de proef in vijf verschillende regio’s gehouden (Amsterdam, Arnhem-Nijmegen, Overijssel, Maastricht, Stedendriehoek).
